The Ford S-Max Vignale (pictured) arrives to top the S-Max range
The arrival of the Ford Mondeo Vignale Concept last year made it clear Ford were ready to do a 21st century version of the ‘Ghia’ badge engineering to create a range-topping sub-brand with the Vignale badge with all the whistles and bells on it. Today’s arrival of the Ford S-MAX Vignale Concept reinforces that conclusion. Just like the Mondeo Vignale, the S-Max Vignale comes with plenty of upmarket materials and toys, like 21″ alloys, chrome mirror caps, Vignale Grill, embossed leather with quilting, tablet docking and a Milano Grigio paint job.

We’re sure there will be a few surprises in store when BMW finally reveals the production version of the electric i3 at the end of July, but does it really warrant a tease? The small BMW i3 City Car has been around since BMW revealed it as a concept (and changed its name from Megacity Vehicle to i3) two years ago. And the production i3 will be revealed two years to the day from the arrival of the i3 concept, on 29th July.
Car Design News is pleased to announce the launch of this year's Car Design News-GM interactive design competition, a collaboration with GM and our partners, Alcantara, CGT, Pace and SRG Global. GM is offering five students a paid internship (with housing included) at its studios in Warren, Michigan. One winner will be picked from each brand (Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC) and one additional overall winner will also be chosen by the judges.
